Best Cookie Recipes for Chewy and Tender Cookies

The best cookie recipes depend on several factors such as using the correct ingredients. Of course, for best results, it pays to follow the recipes diligently and measure the ingredients carefully.

One of the most important ingredients in the best cookie recipes is the fats. They play a major role in the spread of cookies, keeping the cookies in shape or flat. Keep in mind that the more fat you include, the flatter the cookies while less fat males crispier and puffier cookies.

Wine Cookies (Original Italian):

Traditionally, Italian cookie recipes have been handed down from one generation to another. Take this recipe which has seen many generations. For ingredients, you will need 3 cups of all-purpose flour, a teaspoon of baking powder, 3 tablespoons of white sugar, ½ cup of vegetable oil, a cup of dry red wine and 1/3 cup of granulated sugar for decoration.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then in a large bowl, combine together and mix well the baking powder, sugar and flour. Add the oil and wine and mix with a large fork and then your hands. Roll small pieces of dough between your hands to form circles no bigger than 2 inches in diameter. Then roll the cookies in extra sugar and place on a cookie sheet.

Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly brown. Allow to cool and serve with the cookies hard and crisp. Each serving of the cookie contains 82 calories and 3.2 grams fat.

Soft Oatmeal Raisin Cookies:

If you are conscious about your diet, have on hand oatmeal raisin cookie recipes. For this recipe, you need a cup of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of salt, ½ cup each of plain yogurt, white sugar and packed brown sugar, a teaspoon of fat free butter flavored granules, 2 egg whites, 1 and ½ teaspoons of vanilla extract, a cup of raisins, a teaspoon of baking soda and 1 and ½ cups of quick cooking oats.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a bowl, combine and mix together salt, flour and baking soda. Then, in another bowl, mix butter-flavored granules, yogurt, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add vanilla and egg whites and mix well. Add and mix in the flour mixture until just moistened. Stir in raisins and oatmeal.

Drop teaspoonful of dough to the lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Allow to cool before storing in an airtight container. Each serving of this oatmeal cookie contains 128 calories and a milligram of cholesterol.

Watermelon Cookies:

The ingredients are 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 and ½ teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, egg, 1/3 cup butter, ½ cup shortening, ¾ cup white sugar, a tablespoon of milk, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, 3 drops each of red and green food coloring, 1 and ½ cups of confectioners’ sugar, 1/3 cup of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of water.

In a mixing bowl, combine the baking powder, salt and flour. Use an electric mixer to beat butter and shortening at medium speed until fluffy. Then gradually add sugar and beat well. Stir in milk, egg and vanilla and gradually add flour mixture. Mix well. Then add a small drop of red food coloring to the dough, beating to blend. Shape the dough into a ball, cover and chill for about 3 hours.

Divide the dough in half. Roll one half of the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into circles. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and press chocolate mini chips on each cookie. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes on a 375 degrees heat.

To make the frosting, combine and mix powdered sugar and water and add the green food coloring. Dip each cookie in green frosting and set aside until the frosting has become firm. Per serving contains 207 calorie, 21 milligrams of cholesterol and 9.5 grams of fat.
